【検定概要】

幼保英語検定は、日本の幼児教育・保育（ECEC）の現場に加え、家庭や地域社会において、日々起こりうる多様な状況に応じて、英語で適切にコミュニケーションを行う力を大切にする検定です。

子どもへの声かけや関わりにとどまらず、保護者対応、職員同士の連携、英語講師や業者、来園者など外部関係者とのやり取りなど、幼児教育・保育を取り巻く幅広いコミュニケーション場面を想定しています。

これから幼児教育・保育の分野で働くことを目指す方だけでなく、すでに保育・教育の現場に携わっている方、また家庭や地域で子どもに関わる保護者や家族を含む多様な立場の方が、英語での関わりを振り返り、よりよい実践につなげていくための指標として活用できる検定です。

【Overview】

The Early Childhood English Proficiency Test (ECEC English Test) is designed for individuals who use English in the diverse, real-life situations encountered within Japan’s Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) settings, as well as in families and local communities.

Beyond direct interaction with children, the assessment covers communication with parents and guardians, collaboration among staff, and engagement with external stakeholders—including English instructors, service providers, and visitors. The test focuses on the nuanced, situation-sensitive communication essential to environments where safety, trust, and emotional awareness are paramount.

This assessment is intended for a broad audience: students preparing for careers in ECEC, professionals already working in the field, and parents or community members involved in children’s daily lives. The ECEC English Test serves as a practical benchmark for reflecting on and enhancing thoughtful, supportive English communication in any environment involving young children.

【目的】

幼保英語検定の目的は、幼児教育・保育の現場およびそれを取り巻く環境において、
実際に求められる「状況に応じた実践的な英語コミュニケーション力」を、丁寧に可視化し、認定することにあります。

子どもの発達段階や気持ちへの配慮を前提としながら、相手や場面、役割に応じて言葉を選び、安心感や信頼関係を支えるために英語を使いこなす力に焦点を当てています。

本検定は、文法や語彙の知識量そのものを評価するものではなく、人と人が関わる現場において、英語をどのように使い、考え、判断し、行動につなげているかという「現場で生きる英語運用力」を捉えることを目的としています。

【Purpose】

The purpose of the ECEC English Test is to identify, visualize, and certify the practical English communication skills actually required in early childhood education and care settings, as well as in the surrounding community.

With a foundational focus on children’s developmental stages and emotional well-being, the assessment evaluates the ability to select appropriate language based on the situation, role, and individuals involved, while fostering a sense of safety, reassurance, and trust.

Rather than measuring grammatical or lexical knowledge in isolation, the ECEC English Test emphasizes how English is applied in real interactions—specifically how it supports understanding, judgment, and action within human relationships. The goal is to capture English proficiency as it is practically applied in everyday situations involving young children.
